LEARN TO BACKFLIP: 60 MIN ADULT GYMNASTICS TASTER SESSIONS

From zero to hero in 60 min. Learn how to flip safely and with perfect form at this not-to-be- missed hour-long taster session. Breaking the art of the backflip down into 10 manageable movements, this class will teach you the elemental body shapes you’ll need to flip like a pro.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

Join us at the Cross Fit London gymnastics arch in Bethnal Green where we have all the equipment you’ll need to safely learn to flip. Starting with the take off position, we’ll show you how to create flight through the first phase of the flip before developing the shoulder flexibility, strength and body shape required to land back safely on your feet. Using a combination of crash mats, spring boards, foam blocks, trampettes and airtrack - we’ll help you build the confidence you need to take flight.


PREREQUISITES

To attend this class you must be able to hold your own body weight on your hands in a handstand position against the wall for 30sec

LEARN TO HANDSTAND: 60 MIN ADULT GYMNASTICS TASTER SESSION

Learn how to stand on your hands at this beginner level hour-long adult gymnastics taster session!


WHAT TO EXPECT

Join us at the Cross Fit London gymnastics arch in Bethnal Green where we have all the equipment you’ll need to safely learn to handstand. Starting with learning the correct body shape and how to create tension through the body we’ll show you how to confidently support your body weight on your hands before developing the shoulder flexibility, strength and body shape required to invert and safely land back down on your feet. Using a combination of supported positions, crash mats, foam blocks and partner work - we’ll help you build the confidence you need to walk on your hands.


PREREQUISITES

No previous gymnastics experience necessary – all levels welcome however, to attend this course you must be able to sit down on the floor in a cross legged position and stand back up again without using your hands and hold a straight arm plank for 30sec

LEVEL ONE: GYMNASTICS ESSENTIALS & TUMBLING 10-WEEK COURSE

Take your gymnastic skills to the next level and learn to perform some of the most exciting and impressive tricks around. Get a solid grounding in the basics before moving onto spectacular sequences and acrobatic feats. From forward rolls & handstands to round offs and back flips, we’ll teach you to invert, flip and fly in a safe and friendly environment.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

Join us at the Cross Fit London gymnastics arch where we have a range of equipment to help teach you the most essential skills of gymnastics. Each class will begin with an agility based warm up before focusing on learning and improving one of 10 core sets of gymnastics skills followed by key flexibility and conditioning exercises

COURSE CONTENT

Forward and backward rolls - straight jumps, tuck jumps, straddle jumps and hurdle steps - headstands, straddle lifts and Russian levers - handstands and handstand forward rolls - cartwheels and round offs - backward roll to handstands - splits & bridges - headsprings & Handsprings - bridge kickouts and forward & backward walkovers - backflips and creative sequences.

Each week you’ll work towards developing excellence in three key featured skills. If injury or lack of flexibility inhibit your ability to perform particular movements - appropriate regressions will be provided to allow you to develop at your own pace. Likewise, if you are already able to perform a skill to a good level - more difficult variations will be presented to ensure you remain challenged and stimulated.
